Celtic hero Artur Boruc has produced a classy gesture in a bid to help a young girl overcome leukaemia.
Boruc, who represents Legia Warsaw, has donated a specialised bottle of Budweiser that has an interesting backstory.
The bottle was given out to all 160 goalkeepers Lionel Messi had scored against after he broke Pele’s goalscoring record back in December. Boruc was of course in goal for Celtic when they face Barcelona in the last-16 of the Champions League back in 2008. Messi bagged a brace that day.
As such, Celtic fan-favourite Boruc was gifted two specialised bottles. The Polish international has sent one to auction in order to raise funds for a 13-year-old youngster named Patricia as she undergoes chemotherapy for the dreadful condition.
As of right now, the bottle has reached an impressive price of £2.1k with 31 bidders having put their offer in. You can view the item for yourself by clicking here [Allegro].
Artur Boruc still impressing regularly in Poland; 11 years after Celtic departure
Boruc was simply incredible for Celtic. For me personally, he’s the greatest goalkeeper I’ve ever witnessed playing for the club. Making just under 200 appearances for the club, he was everything you want in a Celtic stopper [Transfermarkt].
Nobody will ever forget Boruc’s greatest moments in a Celtic jersey. That stunning penalty save from Louis Saha against Manchester United. His unforgettable display at the San Siro against AC Milan. The performances against Rangers in that debut campaign. How he didn’t end up playing for one of European football’s elite will forever be a huge mystery.

Even so, he’s still wowing supporters now back in his homeland. At 41 years of age, Boruc is a regular with Legia Warsaw, the team Celtic signed him from. The Holy Goalie signed for his first club in the summer and is on course to be a title-winner once again.
But it’s not something that will come as a surprise to the Celtic fans who saw how good he was during his peak. There was nothing to suggest Boruc couldn’t have continued to play for another decade. The fact he’s still going strong, however, is a testament to the quality he has.
And this donation is a sign of the man he is also. A fine gesture for a touching cause. Hopefully it raises as much money as possible for Patricia.
