Arne Engels has been on fire for Celtic over the last four games for the club.
The young Belgian put in superb performances in Celtic’s wins against St Johnstone and Motherwell as Engels was named the man-of-the-match on both occasions.
However, in Celtic’s defeat at Rangers, the 21-year-old was dropped to the bench in place of Paulo Bernardo but was then restored to Brendan Rodgers’ starting lineup for the Hoops’ win over St Mirren.
Last night, the former Augsburg man was superb again and was once again named the player of the match after he helped Celtic defeat Dundee United and was talked up by his captain, Callum McGregor.
Callum McGregor hails Arne Engels’ ‘fantastic’ Celtic performance vs Dundee United
McGregor was interviewed post-match and hailed his young teammate stating Engels is just going to get ‘stronger and stronger’ the more games he plays for Celtic.
McGregor said on Celtic TV, “This guy’s been fantastic since he walked through the door. Big price tag, big expectation and he’s handled it so, so well.
“He’s such a down-to-earth kid as well and he just wants to work hard and you’ve seen that. He just keeps getting stronger and stronger.”
Callum McGregor’s brilliant quip at Celtic teammate Arne Engels
The superlatives did not end there for Engels as McGregor highlighted just how good the Belgian is.
“It’s a pleasure to play with him,” continues the Celtic captain, “And he’s a team player, which is brilliant and you need that at Celtic as well.

“So really happy for him. He’s making brilliant strides. A top player and he just keeps going so it’s excellent.”
After presenting Engels with the man-of-the-match bottle of champagne, McGregor quipped, “I think it’s his dad that’s picking him!”
You can watch how McGregor delivered his superb line below.
With five goals and nine assists to his name so far, Engels has already paid back a huge chunk of the £11.5m fee Celtic paid Augsburg for his services.
At such a young age, there is plenty of time for Engels to develop at Celtic and looking at his last four starts, the signs are looking good that he will be a quality player for Rodgers.
