Joe Hart has revealed his ambition to join the Green Brigade one day.

Now, that’s a sentence that you wouldn’t have imagined hearing ten years ago.

Hart established himself as a hero of the Celtic support over three years in Glasgow. Signed off the back of years in the footballing wilderness, he relaunched his career as a key leader under Ange Postecoglou.

By the end of his Celtic career, he had fallen in love with the club and its support. He is the ultimate example of someone who came into the club from elsewhere and simply ‘got it’.

Joe Hart: I loved the Green Brigade at Celtic

Speaking on the High Performance Podcast, Hart said of the GB’s Tifo on the day of his last game: “I didn’t expect anything. I really didn’t.

“I’d already got more than I ever, ever could have asked for in terms of treatment and kind words and how my family were treated.

“And then I came out for the second half, and I loved that corner, the Green Brigade.

“I loved the energy that comes from that corner. They were there every away game and that bounce and that energy and the songs.

“Like… that’s me. That’s me. I’d happily be in there, and I will be in there at one point in my life.”

Eyebrows were raised when Joe Hart was brought to Glasgow that summer, but the signing quickly turned out to be a masterstroke. He made over 150 appearances for the club, winning seven trophies.

When he decided to hang up the gloves, Brendan Rodgers replaced him with a close friend in Kasper Schmeichel.

Since retiring at the end of the 2023-24 season, Hart has moved into punditry, working on both English and Scottish football.

He has continued to make no apology for his affinity for Celtic, talking up the club among his English peers and helping convince Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to move to Glasgow.

Joe Hart and Ange Postecoglou’s first summer at Celtic

Looking back on Postecoglou’s first summer transfer window, it really was one of the best in the club’s history.

The early headline signing was Kyogo Furuhashi, who arrived from Vissel Kobe and blew us all away instantly.

Carl Starfelt and Liel Abada were also in the door early, before Hart and Josip Juranovic also strengthened the starting eleven.

And how about this for a deadline day trio: Jota, Giorgos Giakoumamakis and Cameron Carter-Vickers. Looking at how our business has been in seasons since, you don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
