Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer has revealed that he can’t get enough of his late block against Rangers.
When the two sides clashed on March 31st, a win for Celtic pretty much secured the title unofficially. 13 points clear with seven games remaining was on the cards for the Hoops with success.
And, in the dying moments of the game, Ajer produced one of those brilliant derby moments with a stunning late challenge to deny Rangers’ Joe Worrall from stealing a point.

It’s a moment that fans have loved since. It was, quite simply, as good as a goal for the Hoops, who were toiling in the closing stages. And, speaking in the Record, he has revealed he couldn’t help but keep watching it back.
“I don’t score that many goals for the club, so I have to celebrate the stuff that I can. It was a great feeling to have that tackle and my reaction was to celebrate it.
“When you hear the fans celebrating your tackle like that and you know how much it means to everyone, the adrenalin starts pumping and you just want to celebrate.
“It was a good feeling. I’ve watched it back a few times. I always get clips sent to me after every game and I look over them to find things I need to develop.”
Massive hero in the treble treble bid
Ajer has perhaps now boosted himself up to be the club’s number one defender. His positional sense, strength, footwork, and aerial dominance are ridiculously impressive for a centre-back who’s just 20.
Celtic also recently signed him up on a new, long-term contract that keeps him at Parkhead until 2022. He is the future of our defence, and one of the best prospects Celtic have had in a long time.

The only part of his game Ajer could truly do with dusting up on is his goal return. For such a forward-thinking player, he’s only ever bagged one goal for the Hoops. That came in the 3-0 win over Suduva in the Europa League playoff round.
But there’s no denying that Ajer does his job at the back sensationally well. He’s been part of a defence that’s kept 13 clean sheets in 18 matches since the winter break. Not bad going for such a young talent.
If Celtic secure the treble treble, they’ll have a lot to thank Ajer for. A defender who simply loves the art of defending, and his love of the block against Rangers proves it.
