Celtic hero Moussa Dembele goes down an interesting career route despite still playing for Al-Ettifaq

Brendan Rodgers has been blessed because he has worked with some top talents during his time in the Celtic dugout.

From his first spell to his Treble-chasing second spell, it has been pure dominance from the Celtic manager, and there are no signs of it stopping.

One of the standouts has been the goal scorers Rodgers has coached, from the relaxed and easy on the eye Moussa Dembele to the all-action Daizen Maeda.

Dembele spent two years in the colours of Scotland’s most successful club, and won over many hearts, including winning the Treble.

Since leaving Glasgow, the 28-year-old has had an interesting career path, including playing in France for Lyon, as well as joining the big-money Saudi Arabia Pro League.

But as Dembele continues to score goals for Al-Ettifaq, he has now decided to go down an interesting career path.

Moussa Dembele becomes the new owner of Lithuanian club FK Minija

There are so many doors open for footballers to go down in the modern game, outside of the playing field, rather than just the old road of coaching, especially given the money about.

And Dembele, despite still playing and nowhere near retirement, is already thinking ahead because he now has something in common with Dermot Desmond.

Desmond is Celtic’s majority shareholder, and now Dembele has decided to purchase a club of his own, in the form of Lithuanian club FK Minija.

‘Moussa Dembele signs in as the new owner of Lithuanian club FK Minija,’ wrote Fabrizio Romano on social media.

‘Dembele has signed all documents via his investment group called Triple M, which also owns AS Mansa in Mali.’

Dembele’s Celtic career in numbers

As Celtic search for that much-needed striker in the summer, Rodgers could do with a player of his ilk now, even though Maeda is scoring for fun.

But during Dembele’s days in Glasgow, he ripped it up, like many players have done under Rodgers.

Despite spending less time in Scotland than his former Al-Ettifaq manager, Steven Gerrard, the French star still managed to rack up eight trophies to the Englishman’s one.
