Odsonne Edouard is a Coupe de France winner, making history in the process.

The ex-Celtic striker has relaunched his career with RC Lens this season, and on Saturday evening, he started and scored as they won the trophy for the first time in their history.

It marks one of the best seasons in the club’s history, in which they finished runners-up in Ligue 1, just six points off European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

He has also finished their season as the joint top-scorer.

After France international Florian Thauvin gave them the lead, Edouard stepped up in the 42nd minute to double their lead with a bullet header.

He didn’t score many with his head in Glasgow, so it’s good to know that he’s still improving his game!

After Nice halved the deficit through 17-year-old Djibril Coulibaly, ex-Rangers loanee Abdallah Sima secured the 3-1 win for Lens with a goal in the late stages.

After the game, a buzzing Edouard told the media: “Honestly, this one is very special to me.

“It was really important for me to win this final, given that I was coming off the back of a difficult season last year.

“So it was really important for me to offer this first Coupe de France to RC Lens, to all our supporters… of course, it’s something that warms the heart.

“And there you have it, we’re going to enjoy it with our supporters, we’re going to go home, party and celebrate properly.

“Honestly, it’s crazy. I don’t even have the words to tell you what I felt at that moment [of the final whistle. It’s incredible.

“Maybe we don’t realise it yet, but we’re going to enjoy this to the fullest. That’s all there is to do.”
