Celtic icon Artur Boruc has bid an emotional farewell to Legia Warsaw supporters after the club confirmed his exit at the end of the season.

Boruc’s contract at the Polish club expires at the end of the season and won’t be renewed.

The veteran goalkeeper was a regular in the team as recently as February but fell foul of his bosses after receiving a suspension and fine for an altercation with a camera operator. Legia have confirmed they are planning a departure for the club legend on social media.

He was also pictured saying goodbye to fans in the stands this weekend, receiving a commemorative saber from their ultras group.

Retirement on the cards for Artur Boruc

He could extend his career but at 42 and having had a final spell at his boyhood heroes, you’d say there’s a good chance he also hangs up his gloves this summer.

Polish outlet Transfery Info have reported that’s on the cards, although he could have options from elsewhere, specifically Major League Soccer.

Boruc made 221 appearances in total for the Bhoys, winning multiple trophies and excelling on the European stage.

His antics and attitude also made him a massively popular cult hero with supporters.

Celtic fans will certainly put themselves at the front of the queue in congratulating him on his retirement if it does come this summer.

All the best whatever you decide to do Artur!
