Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers hasn’t travelled with the squad to Germany for Tuesday night’s Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.

Carter-Vickers is considered the linchpin of the Bhoys defence but has been suffering from a foot injury for several weeks.

Manager Brendan Rodgers revealed last week that his centre-back has been playing through pain and injections. However, after being forced off in the match against Slovan Bratislava, he’s required some time on the sidelines.

The United States international has had frustrating luck around European matches. The Bhoys boss has noted a trend of him being unavailable for big Champions League matches.

The latest on Cameron Carter-Vickers Celtic injury

Rodgers said in a pre-match press conference: “Cam is not available. We’ll see what he’s like going into next weekend, but he’s not here for this one.

“Clearly, he’s a top-class player for us, and he’s missed a little bit of Champions League football, I think, in his time. Five of the 12 games the club has played he has unfortunately not been able to play in.

“But we have other players. It’s always an opportunity for somebody else to come in, and hopefully, we can get Cam back sooner rather than later.

“We can’t over-think it. We will rely on the collective. There’s not one player that brings our results and how we have been this season. Of course, he’s a very important player, Cam, but for us to get a result, it will be about the collective.”

What Brendan Rodgers has said about Auston Trusty vs Dortmund

Auston Trusty will now face his toughest test yet in a Celtic shirt alongside Liam Scales, who picked up UEFA’s Man of the Match award against Slovan Bratislava.

Rodgers all but confirmed that at the weekend, stating: “I thought he was excellent vs St Johnstone. You’ve seen his pace. You’ve seen his power. He’s playing off that right side, but he’s got a good balance in his game.

“I thought he did very, very well. So if Cameron’s not available, then we have someone who can come straight in.”

Signal Iduna Park isn’t a bad venue to make just your third Celtic start, and every fan will be hoping that the defender can rise to the occasion and show why the club spent a few million quid on him during the summer transfer window.
