Calvin Miller’s injury picked up last week against Hibernian’s development squad will see him out for the rest of the season.
The horror injury wasn’t disclosed by Celtic, with no real details of the nature of it. However, Miller has today confirmed on Instagram that he won’t play again this season.

It’s a real blow to the youngster, who’s in the final year of his contract. It’s debatable as to whether first-team opportunities would’ve come his way in any case. But the injury has robbed him of the chance to impress Tommy McIntyre, Stephen McManus, and Neil Lennon respectively.
Miller was upbeat about the season before it all began. He spoke in the summer about looking to make his mark at the club and get a chance under Lennon (The Times). But Miller has confirmed today that his injury will keep him out for the long-term:

Celtic could still give Miller the chance to rebuild himself next season
It remains to be seen if Celtic give Miller an extra year of an extension to his contract. The club have certainly backed the youngster, who has become a Lennoxtown academy graduate over the years.
However, his chances at Parkhead have been limited over the last 12 months. Miller spent time on loan with Dundee and Ayr United respectively last season. Neither spell seemed to be enough to push him into first-team contention at Parkhead however.

But for now, he has to cancel all focus on where his long-term future lies. Whatever the injury is to Miller, it’s clearly going to take plenty of recovery time.
The one thing that Miller does have is both talent and adaptability. Even if his future isn’t at Parkhead, he’ll be picked up easily so long as he comes back smoothly enough.

It’s a real blow for him, however. Celtic may be well-stocked at left-back these days, but Miller would’ve fancied a chance or two in the winter months to impress.
That’s been robbed from him for now. We all wish Calvin the very best in his recuperation process over the coming months.
