Last weekend, Carlo Ancelotti led his Real Madrid side to a 14th Champions League trophy after defeating Liverpool 1-0 on Saturday evening.

The Italian boss has managed some of the biggest sides in the world, winning the prestigious trophy with the likes of AC Milan, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Saturday’s win was also the 23rd domestic and international trophy which Ancelotti lifted as a manager, putting him among some legendary names of the game.

Included in that list is Celtic hero Jock Stein. Stein is a legendary figure of the club, having led the Lisbon Lions to the European Cup back in 1967.

Alongside that European success, the former Scotland boss enjoyed incredible domestic success, lifting 10 Scottish Premiership titles, eight Scottish Cups and six league cups during his 13 years in charge.

Before coming to Celtic as manager, he also spent time as club captain and reserve team manager. His managerial career really kicked off with Dunfermline, where he delivered his first of many Scottish Cup trophies.

His trophy haul puts Stein amongst the most successful managers in the game, including another huge Scottish figure, Sir Alex Ferguson, who has always credited the Celtic great for achieving one of the biggest feats the game has ever seen.

Any Celtic fan will be able to tell you about the genius of Jock Stein and the impact his legacy continues to have on the club to this day.

It is crazy to think when you consider how many trophies he lifted during his career, and yet there will be so many fans in the modern era who don’t know what he managed to achieve.

The only thing that really matters, though, is that his status at Parkhead will live on forever. Immortal, indeed!
