Former Celtic captain Scott Brown has revealed he remains in contact with three of his ex-Hoops bosses as he prepares to enter management.

The 37-year-old announced his retirement from football earlier this year, after a long and successful career, which included 14 years at Parkhead.

During his time at Celtic, Brown became one of the club’s most successful captains and will always be fondly remembered by supporters.

This weekend, the former Celtic great is preparing to take his next step in football, managing his first competitive fixture as Fleetwood Town boss.

As Brown gets set to enter the management game, the ex-Scotland captain has been reflecting on what he has learned throughout his career that has led to him becoming a manager.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Mail, Brown revealed he remains in contact with three of his former Celtic managers – Gordon Strachan, Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon – picking up tips ahead of the beginning of what he hopes to be another long career in football.

“Wee Strachan, what a guy,’ Brown laughs. ‘I’ve carried on talking to (the three bosses, Strachan, Rodgers and Lennon) since coming in.

“It’s important to take small bits from all of them. There will be different facets of their training I impress on to the lads and put my own twist on. Don’t go in and copy a manager. We are different people with different mannerisms.

“It’s different to Celtic here, too. We want young players doing well here, knowing they can succeed and then be sold on to a bigger club. That’s what we need to do to survive.”

The beginning of a road which may lead to Paradise one day?

With Brown set to begin his managerial career this weekend, there are sure to be plenty of eyes on how he gets on in English League One.

It is a big step up for the Celtic great to be taking his first job in the third tier of English Football, but there are plenty of people who have faith that it will work out well for Brown.

Who knows, maybe this is the beginning of another successful period within his footballing career and potentially the start of a road back to Paradise.

It feels almost inevitable that we will see Brown return to Celtic one day. In what capacity? Who knows at this point in time? But I am sure he would love to come back as manager one day.

Of course, before even starting to think about that possibility, he has a job to do at Fleetwood, and if he wants to earn a move back to Parkhead one day, it will have to be through merit and showing he has what it takes in the dugout.
