Mark van Bommel has broken his silence on the decision to turn down a number of managerial offers.
The Hoops are still looking for a permanent successor to Brendan Rodgers and according to De Telegraaf, Van Bommel was offered the chance to replace the Northern Irishman.
He won’t be in the running for the vacancy, and the fomrer PSV and Royal Antwerp manager has opened up on his decision to pause any return to the dugout.

As well as the links to Celtic, the Dutch legend was reportedly offered the chance to work in Saudi Arabia but also rejected that offer.
In a recent interview with a Dutch TV station, the 48-year-old explained that he wanted to stay at home with son Ruben, who is recovering from a long-term injury.
He said: “Yes, Ruben is the reason I have rejected approaches to be a manager again.
“I have had discussions with clubs, but I felt the need to stay at home.
“He’s 21 and I don’t have to hold his hand, but it’s nice to be home with the family.
“In this situation, I felt it was better not to take another job for now.”
Mark van Bommel’s son wanted him to return to management
Despite turning down multiple offers, the Dutch legend revealed that his son gave him the opposite advice and encouraged him to return to work.
“Ruben actually said to me, ‘Dad, go ahead and take the job,'” he said.
“But if something happens and you’re abroad, you’re not there.
“So it’s better to stay home, and we’ll see next season.”
