Xavier Mbuyamba has quickly moved to address the transfer speculation that surfaced linking him to Celtic. As 67 Hail Hail reported this morning, Sky Sports claimed the 21-year-old as a possible summer target for Ange Postecoglou.
And it seems that the former Dutch u19 international has moved quickly to address the rumours.
Mbuyamba said [Football Scotland], “My agent is in the Netherlands. Soon, we will discuss what is going on.
“There will be interest. But the main question is whether a move is right for me. If not, then I will stay. I have said that I will stay with FC Volendam for a maximum of two years, and this is the first season.
“This was my first year in men’s football. I played in everything, showed that I can perform well and stayed fit.
“That’s great. I can’t complain about my performance.”
Although his comments seem to suggest that he is committed to Volendam for the near future, it does seem as though if the right club comes along, then he would be open to talking about a possible move.
And what better club to choose than Celtic?

And whilst the 21-year-old has been compared to former Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk [Sky Sports], it cannot be ignored the huge role Celtic played in his development.
The club plucked the big Dutch defender from Groningen in 2013 and gave him a platform on the European stage to help develop and grow his talent.
This earned him his big move to the English Premier League to Southampton and then eventually on to Liverpool where the bid Dutchman is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the world.
Virgil van Dijk’s spell at Celtic also gave him the taste of winning major honours as he picked up two league titles and a Scottish Cup in his two seasons at the club.
That is something that Mbuyamba could look forward to should he decide on a move to the Scottish Champions.
