Celtic youngster Luca Connell is unstoppable.

Again, for Queens Park, the Irish midfielder came to the fore, with a crucial assist for Queens Park in a dramatic 3-2 win over Edinburgh City. He helped the Spiders into the lead, setting up the familiarly-named Peter Grant for a 26th minute opener.

Former Hibs man Simon Murray was at the double for the south Glasgow side, who remain unbeaten in League Two. The club voted to go professional in 2019, after 152 years as an amateur outfit [BBC]. Since doing so, the Spiders have added real quality to their side, including Ryan Mullen and Brody Paterson, both on loan from the Bhoys.

With each week, you get the sense that Luca Connell is perhaps finding the fourth tier a little too easy. An Ireland youth international and former Bolton Wanderers man, the midfielder still represents something a coup for the Spiders.

It’s not just Luca Connell; fellow Celtic youngster Ewan Henderson impresses for Pars

While we’re at it, there was another impressive outing for a Celtic loanee. Ewan Henderson had been sniffing around the first-team before joining Dunfermline Athletic on loan, and he got off the mark for the Pars today against Queen of the South [Courier].

As described by the Courier:

“…Henderson put any nerves to bed by putting the finishing touch to a slick counter-attack as the visitors threw bodies forward.”

The creative midfielder has one goal and one assist to his name after 6 matches. While there were critics of Celtic’s loan policy, especially with first-team veterans under-performing, the evidence is clear. In the vast majority of cases, these spells away from Celtic will do the likes of Luca Connell and Ewan Henderson a world of good.

Next up for Luca Connell is maintaining an unbeaten run for the Spiders. Henderson, meanwhile, will be desperate to help Dunfermline back into the Championship’s top 3.
