Celtic loanee Johnny Kenny’s stats as he brings ‘whole different dynamic’ in Bolton win

This loan spell at Bolton Wanderers is serving its purpose for Celtic’s Johnny Kenny.

You can’t have said that about many Celtic players this season because everything and anything has been going wrong.

But on Tuesday night, Kenny bagged again for Bolton as they thrashed promotion rivals Stevenage 5-1 on home soil.

Just at the weekend, Bolton’s chances of earning a top-two finish were all but over after losing 2-0 to second-placed Cardiff City, but Celtic’s young star was absent for that fixture.

It turns out that Kenny was carrying some sort of knock, so he ‘wasn’t risked’, but returned to the XI with a bang against a team they could meet in the League One play-offs.

Does Johnny Kenny have a long-term future at Celtic?

Kenny can’t stop scoring, and Celtic haven’t said that about any of their strikers this season.

Unfortunately for the champions of Scotland, all of this is happening outside of their waters, as Kenny has bagged goal number four since joining the Trotters.

Bolton will be competing in the League One play-offs, and with a chance to earn promotion to England’s second-tier.

And Kenny has provided his new team with some extra spark, energy, and quality since moving in January, as 67 Hail Hail looked at his stats from the win over Stevenage.

Bolton boss Steven Schumacher lauds Kenny’s impact

Steven Schumacher is the man who is coaching Kenny at Bolton, and he is clearly loving what the Celtic man is bringing to the table.

Before the Republic of Ireland star’s exit in the winter, the English League One side were keen on Kenny, and now you can see why.

After missing such a huge match at the weekend, Schumacher explained how Kenny brings ‘a whole different dynamic’ to proceedings because he is ‘so quick’ when running in behind, as he told Wanderers TV.

“Johnny Kenny, we didn’t risk him on Saturday because he was feeling his calf,” said Schumacher. “So, having him at the top of the pitch just gives you a whole different dynamic because he is so quick running behind.

“I thought Johnny Kenny was sharp. For him to get 65 minutes, he will be fresh for the weekend. It’s been a good night all round. Most importantly, we get three points, and we move up a place.”
