Celtic look like they’ll be making their first signing of the transfer window in the coming days. The Daily Record report that David Turnbull is expected at Celtic Park for talks over a five-year deal.
They also report that the likes of Barnsley and Bournemouth are still in for the 19-year-old but Celtic are in the driving seat after having a bid accepted by Motherwell on Wednesday.
It is pleasing to see the club moving so quickly and efficiently on this one. There is significant interest in Turnbull from down south so it’s important that we get it over the line and don’t give other parties any hope.
Turnbull is likely to want to make the move so there shouldn’t be too many problems at the contract stage. Hopefully he is parading round Celtic Park by the start of next week.
Celtic will spend ten days in Austria and Switzerland at the end of this month so it would be nice to get some recruits in at that stage. The pre-season trip offers new players a good chance to meet their new teammates and build fitness.
Celtic have benefitted massively from their winter training camp in previous years and the summer one is just as important. We’ll play three matches while on the continent, starting with SC Pinkafeld on June 26th. It’ll be interesting to see how many new signings get a chance to make their debut in that one.
