Celtic should make one final attempt to persuade Dedryck Boyata to sign a new contract at the club. The player’s deal expires at the end of the season. However, interim manager Neil Lennon should try to convince the player that his future lies in Glasgow.
Boyata might not be the most consistent of players. However, when he is on his game he is one of the best defenders in Scotland.
A real blow to lose player

It would be a real blow for Celtic to lose the player. Especially on a free transfer at the end of the season. Even if Lennon can persuade Boyata to sign a one-year deal it would be worth doing.

It would mean that the player could sign a new deal, then if he still wanted to leave the Hoops would get money for him.

Lennon alluded to discussions
Intriguingly, Lennon did claim just after he was appointed interim boss that he was going to talk to Boyata about persuading him to stay at the club.
We don’t yet know where the future lies for either Lennon or Boyata. However, if Lennon persuades the player to sign a new deal it would be a real boost for whoever manages Celtic next season.
Time is running out, so if discussions are going to happen between Boyata and the club they need to happen sooner rather than later.
