Celtic have introduced measures to improve the Paradise match-day experience, with the help of manager Ange Postecoglou.
The club’s visually impaired supporters, who have a section at Celtic Park, will now get to hear the manager’s match notes ahead of kick-off.
With supporters returning en masse this season, it’s a great way for fans with visual impairments to connect with Postecoglou. Some of the manager’s recordings have already been made available by the club [Celtic FC].
Gerard McColgan, of the Visually Impaired Fans’ Section at Paradise, said [Celtic FC]:
“As I am partially sighted, I find the benefit of hearing the manager’s notes to be a great insight into the game and the team. I appreciate Ange taking the time to make the members of the VI Section feel a valued part of the Celtic Family.”
Meanwhile, the manager said [Celtic FC]:
“I am really pleased to support this great initiative. And if my involvement can in any way assist and add to the experience of our visually impaired fans then I am delighted.
“We are fortunate to have the best fans around who give us so much, week in week out. Our supporters in the visually impaired section epitomise this.’
“We know these supporters face a range of challenges. But they do so with such spirit and a real desire to rise above these challenges, to be at Celtic Park and be part of the Club.
“As with all our fans I thank the guys in this group for their tremendous support and hope what we do can help their enjoyment of the game.”
Great move by Celtic and manager Ange Postecoglou
Often, it’s easy to think of “a Club open to all” as a catchy slogan. However, for things like these, that motto really means something.
Just like everyone else at Paradise, visually impaired people should have every opportunity to enjoy the match programme.
With Postecoglou’s involvement, it makes the whole experience far more immersive, and it’s such a simple idea, too.

In the club’s words, the added audio is being utilised to “add another dimension” to the game. Moreover, the club say the feature will bring the match to life for supporters with visual impairments.
Really, it’s a classy, modern approach, that can only help.
Nice work all round, Celtic.
