Aberdeen 0-4 Celtic was the scoreline at Pittodrie today, and Neil Lennon is most certainly delighted with it.
The Hoops got the job done in Aberdeen in emphatic fashion. Goals from Odsonne Edouard, Jeremie Frimpong, James Forrest, and Mohamed Elyounoussi put the gloss on a stunning performance. All four goals came in the first half, with Celtic seeing the game out comfortably.
Lennon will be equally delighted with the fact that this stunning performance came on the back of their 2-1 Europa League success vs Lazio less than 72 hours ago. Everything came up brilliantly for the iconic gaffer.

And as he spoke to the BBC post-match (14:36), he couldn’t help but shower superlatives towards the players.
“It was a special 45 minutes off the back of a great week. I have to pay enormous credit to the players, they were outstanding.
“We were ruthless. The confidence, quality and the athleticism of the players was all in evidence today. We’re in a good place at the minute. We’re not getting carried away, but to come here and win as emphatically as that is very pleasing.
“It’s a magnificent performance, to come here and play like that against a very good side.”
Lennon couldn’t have asked for more from his team
The Celtic manager got absolutely everything he could’ve wanted from this afternoon’s game. Celtic were at it from the off, and looked several classes above Aberdeen.
Interestingly, Lenny didn’t overly rotate the team. Instead, he simply brought in Jeremie Frimpong and Tom Rogic into the side. That was despite the fact that Hatem Abd Elhamed was on the bench and fit. The Celtic manager is clearly looking for consistency in both selection and performances.

It was just a tremendous day for the Celtic supporters. They also answered a key question mark regarding their ability away from home.
Let’s not kid ourselves – the players didn’t do the club justice at Easter Road or the Tony Macaroni Arena respectively. They had question marks hovering over their away form. It’s fair to say those have now gone.

Lennon will have run out of ways to describe this team come the end of the night. The first-half display in Aberdeen was seriously that good. And, of secondary importance, there were no second-half blips to reduce the deficit. This was just total domination of the highest calibre.
It’s a positive day for the club regardless of what happens at Ibrox. This team has the trust and support of the Celtic fan-base. Now, it’s time to see where that momentum takes us.
