Celtic manager: No offers for Olivier Ntcham

Neil Lennon has confirmed that there is no Olivier Ntcham transfer news as he returns to training.

The midfielder has had showdown talks with the Celtic manager after unacceptable remarks to L’Equipe. The Frenchman has only just returned after stating that he wanted a move from Parkhead and that he would “blossom” at Marseille.

The Scottish Sun believes that both Marseille and Porto are monitoring the former Manchester City man. Ntcham, however, is yet to even make a single appearance due to his involvement at the under-21 European Championships last month.

And Lennon has revealed in the Scottish Sun that Celtic haven’t received a single offer for Ntcham’s services.

“There has been nothing so far.

“It’s a question of him knuckling down now, being a Celtic player and doing what he is good at. That’s what we want from him.

“He is back in with the squad and the players so it is not an issue now”

Olivier Ntcham transfer news could be quiet after saga

You have to wonder whether Celtic can truly get the £10m they reportedly want for Ntcham (Football Scotland). Clubs will have clocked on to his comments, and they still don’t reflect well on him.

In addition to that, the Frenchman will do well to recover from all of this. Dedryck Boyata proved anything is possible, but Ntcham is going to have to find a level in his game that we haven’t seen for too long.

The fact we’ve had no offers for him isn’t a surprise either. You would fancy Celtic accepting one if it came their way, so long as it was of good value. There’s been nothing reported in the media all summer about formal offers, and you can see why after Lennon’s reveal.

His next task is trying to build up his match-sharpness and earning a regular spot ahead of either Scott Brown or Callum McGregor. That’s going to be a massive ask for the midfielder. His competition is loved by the Celtic support, whilst Ntcham has fractured his own relationship with them.

Good performances have a habit of making people forget, of course. Should Ntcham deliver consistently over the coming 12 months, Celtic supporters will slowly start getting on-side with him once again.

But as it stands, he needs to start working hard again at Parkhead. There are no moves pending just now, and any plans Ntcham has of going to Marseille will have to wait.
