Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has remained in positive spirits despite his international blows with Israel over the last week.

Unfortunately for Nir, Israel managed to lose their two games over the course of the international break. Bitton played 90 minutes in both matches against Poland and North Macedonia respectively. The two defeats were enough to push Israel down to fifth in their six-team group.

Of course, Bitton also has the Nations League playoffs to look forward to in March. Israel could potentially face Scotland at Hampden for a chance of a one-off match to see who qualifies for Euro 2020.

And, positively for Celtic fans, Nir clearly hasn’t let the recent international results get to him. Posting on his Instagram story, here are a couple of the images posted that shows he’s in good spirits:

Bitton doesn’t seem down ahead of important period

It’s huge to see that Bitton isn’t coming back from international duty on a downer. Sometimes, with the struggles of poor international results, it can have a negative effect on a player’s mentality.

But that’s never been Nir. Bitton has rarely seemed to allow results to get him down. He’s always ready to move on to the next game, and it’s no wonder he’s been no trouble since signing for Celtic.

Nir’s attitude has been spot on ever since he arrived at the club in 2013. Ahead of the 11-game schedule we have coming up, having mentalities and cool heads such as his will be key.

So far this season, the Israeli regular has played 15 times for the Hoops, with 10 of them coming from the start. That’s 10 starts in 27 matches (Transfermarkt), which isn’t bad going considering the signings Neil Lennon has made.

Lenny knows what he gets from Bitton. He’s Mr Reliable in every sense, and has always slotted in wherever the manager has needed him to. That could be crucial ahead of the next six weeks or so.

And after what was a really poor end to the group and overall campaign from Israel, it’s great to see that Bitton still appears to have a positive mindset about him.
