Celtic are starting to find their groove when it matters most.

You don’t blame those Celtic supporters, including pundits, who have questioned whether the team has the quality to secure the title, given the issues of this campaign.

Many haven’t been convinced by the champions of Scotland, but one man, even during Celtic’s low moments, who has never written them off is an unlikely source in Derek Ferguson.

The former Rangers man, speaking on Open Goal, brought up his past comments on the Hoops and how they were always in this title race, which is now becoming ‘worrying’ from a Hearts and Rangers perspective.

“That’s why I kept saying to you all along,” said Ferguson. “Six weeks ago, when you (Paul Slane) were writing them off. I was like that, ‘I am not so sure.’

“The fans are starting to get on side. It’s worrying from a Rangers and a Hearts point of view.”

Celtic ‘belief’ is starting to worry title rivals

Celtic have momentum, there is no doubt about it. That has been proven by the Scottish Cup semi-final win and also the opening post-split fixture against Falkirk.

Yes, there have been many problems at Parkhead this season. But Martin O’Neill, over his two spells, has somehow calmed the waters and brought everybody together.

Yes, Celtic are still trailing Hearts by three points ahead of their trip to Easter Road to take on Hibernian on Sunday.

But while those in green and white are nervous, Celtic’s title rivals are starting to feel it because they know what those currently holding the crown are capable of.

“It looks like they are starting to fancy it, doesn’t it?” said Ferguson.

“They are getting more belief. That’s why I kept saying to you all along. Six weeks ago, when you (Paul Slane) were writing them off. I was like that, ‘I am not so sure.’

“The fans are starting to get on side. It’s worrying from a Rangers and a Hearts point of view.”
