Celtic are likely to be in the market for centre-halves in the summer. Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic seem likely to leave the club.
There has to be a doubt over Jozo Simunovic’s future as he has been a bit-player this season. Therefore, only Jack Hendry and Kristoffer Ajer look guaranteed to be at the club for the start of Champions League qualifiers in the summer.
One player that Celtic attempted to sign last summer is Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna. The Hoops had a bid for the player turned down in August.
That was under the management of Brendan Rodgers, though. Whoever is in charge this summer should not revisit this potential transfer. At the moment, McKenna might not be good enough for Celtic.
Struggled badly
The defender struggled badly for Scotland in their 3-0 loss to Kazakhstan on Thursday night.
If Neil Lennon or anyone else connected with Celtic watched the game, they would have seen a player who looked out of his depth at international level.
Outmuscled in the air
He particularly looked out of sorts at the third Kazakhstan goal, where he was outmuscled in the air. Perhaps this is just a blip for the player. Maybe when Celtic play Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup next month he will turn in a match-winning performance.
Judging the player on his last performance though, he isn’t good enough for the Hoops. At the moment, he should not a player the Bhoys are looking to sign in the summer.
