Celtic must do all they can to make Jack Hendry move happen

The Jack Hendry speculation has been something of a surprise over the last 24 hours, but Celtic must do all they can to strike a deal for him.

It looked as though Hendry’s chances of a loan move were over earlier on this month. He had been linked with potential loan moves to Kilmarnock or Motherwell (Scottish Sun). However, nothing came of it, and the centre-back continued to stay at Parkhead.

Now, however, it looks as though he could have that opportunity to leave once again. The Sunday People (15/9, page 54) believes that four clubs are interested in taking the Celtic man from Portugal.

Vitoria Guimaraes, Tondela, and Santa Clara are all apparently vying for Hendry’s signature from the Portuguese top flight. Second-tier outfit Farense are also reportedly in the mix too.

Hendry hasn’t made a single appearance for Celtic this season. In total, he’s only featured in 15 league games, with his move so far turning out to be a huge failure.

The only way is out for Jack Hendry

The only way for the former Dundee man to pick himself back up is to go out on loan. Let’s face it, chances at Parkhead are going to be non-existent unless a plethora of injuries occurs. He needs to get back playing regular football, regardless of where it is.

It would certainly be an unusual move for Hendry to take, of course. It’s a step-down from Celtic for sure, but he needs to start impressing to have any chance of reviving his Parkhead career.

Christopher Jullien, Kristoffer Ajer, Jozo Simunovic, Nir Bitton, and Hatem Abd Elhamed are all ahead of Hendry at centre-back. There truly is no breaking into that selection for him unless he goes out on loan and impresses regularly.

This would appear to be Celtic’s last chance to send him out before the January transfer window. If any of the four come in with an offer, Celtic have to accept it. It’s far too good an opportunity to let bypass Hendry.

Of course, as it stands, there have been no reported offers as of yet. It could end up being plain speculation. But for Hendry’s sake, here’s hoping there’s something in this. And, hopefully, Celtic don’t stand in anyone’s way to get a deal done.

This seems like an obvious decision for all parties. Hopefully, the right decision is made for the player himself.
