Normally all at Celtic would ignore the words of Rangers manager Steven Gerrard. This should not change with his latest attempt at mind games.
The Rangers boss revealed to the Scotsman that the Ibrox club’s best chance of silver wear this season is in the Scottish Cup.
This is after Celtic went eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership over the weekend. Whilst Gerrard might be saying that publicly, privately he won’t believe it, and neither will anyone at Celtic.
Attempt to play mid games
It is an attempt to play mind games. Especially when you consider that there are still two Old Firm games left in the league this season.
In the unlikely event Rangers won both those games, the gap at the top of the league would shrink considerably. It should also be considered that fans of a club don’t like to hear that you are out of a title race. Especially when there is still 12 games to go in the league.
Celtic will keep eyes on the main prize
Celtic might briefly be distracted by the upcoming Europa League clash against Valencia. But that won’t prevent the Hoops from keeping their eyes on the main prize, the league title.
Gerrard might be new at management, but that hasn’t stopped him from trying to play the old trick of managerial mind games.
Thankfully all at Celtic can see through that, and they won’t let those comments distract them from what lies ahead.
