It looked as if Kieran Tierney’s season could have been over when he crawled off the pitch against Rangers last Sunday.
It was always going to be a risk to start the player. And so it proved when he was eventually substituted in the second-half.
However, perhaps the injury was not as bad as it seemed, as John Kennedy confirmed that it was only ‘cramp’ that forced Tierney to come off.
Still being careful with the player
Despite Kennedy’s comments, the fact that Tierney didn’t feature against St Mirren in midweek shows that the Hoops are rightfully being careful with the player.
That approach should continue when it comes to Saturday’s game against Livingston. There is no need to Tierney to be risked for the game. Particularly when you take into the account the fact that the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen is just over a week away.
Able deputy available
Emilio Izaguirre proved that he is capable of deputising for Tierney against St Mirren. There is no question he can do the same against Livingston.
The Aberdeen game is far more important than the Livingston game in the big picture for Celtic. It is more important that Tierney is available for the cup tie.
Therefore, Tierney should not feature against Livingston.
