Another day and yet another newspaper has Brendan Rodgers going to Timbuktu to get away from Parkhead.

Today’s choice of club is struggling Russian giants Spartak Moscow who have just sacked their manager.

In the past month the double treble winning manager has been on the radar of Aston Villa and a Chinese club.

This is beginning to irk fans who don’t want the manager sold off by news outlets who have a perceived agenda.

Celtic didn’t start the season well and the ‘Rodgers out’ talk was at its height during this period.

Now that Celtic are back on track, the Rodgers sell off hasn’t stopped with Moscow the next destination.

Those wanting Rodgers out will be up against it

Celtic would be smart at this stage to issue a statement of support to the manager to put to bed any unrest.

It would immediately swell up ‘Rodgers to X Club’ stories which could potentially hurt team harmony.

Anyone with a perceived agenda against Celtic or Rodgers’ success would be put back in their place.

Rodgers has admitted the summer and transfer window didn’t go the way it should have – we didn’t improve.

Speculation that Rodgers could leave next season to stop a repeat will always be around.

However, rumours of a board/managerial group hug will let fans settle a little better.

Transfer window is also a statement

It all depends on if Rodgers gets some financial backing in January – and he needs it.

This would be a statement from Celtic in itself and better than any words that can be written.

Next summer will likely see Dedryck Boyata away and Filip Benkovic going back to Leicester.

They should be replacing with similar quality and these players won’t come cheap.

This means it will be the next two windows that will really show how much Celtic love their champagne manager.
