Celtic are reportedly interested in a defender, but could lose out to Seria A side Hellas Verona in the battle to sign the player.

Sky Sport Italy journalist Gianlua Di Marzio is reporting that Verona are in pole position to sign Dinamo Zagreb left-back/centre-back Amir Rrahmani.

Reportedly discussing four-year deal

The report claims that the Hoops and Standard Liege are also interested in the player, but that Verona are already discussing a four-year deal with the defender.

Interestingly, the player played alongside former Hoops loanee Filip Benkovic at Zagreb.

Rrahmani was a regular for Zagreb making 26 appearances overall. Interestingly, the majority of those appearances were at left-back.

Hoops in need of defender

The Hoops are in need of another left-back, to provide competition for Kieran Tierney. Signing a left-back who can also play as a centre-back would be a plus. The Hoops are in dire need of a new centre-back.

It remains to be seen if the Hoops will sign Rrahmani. However, the fact that the club are reportedly in for a defender should be encouraging.

Celtic badly need new squad additions in the weeks ahead. It looks as if David Turnbull will be the first of these additions.

Next on the agenda should be signing at least two defenders. The club certainly seem to be on the lookout for players. Only time will tell if Rrahmani is one of those players.
