Garry Parker may not be joining Neil Lennon at Celtic but another old colleague still could.

The Scottish Sun reported on Friday that Lennon’s former number two wouldn’t me making his return to Celtic Park. John Kennedy is expected to be kept on as the Northern Irishman’s assistant while there could be space for another coach too.

One area where Celtic definitely need a new member of staff is in recruitment. It’s now almost three weeks since Lee Congerton departed the club to link back up with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester.

The Welshman was much derided in his time at the club but surely having him in was better than having nobody. It seems absolutely ludicrous that we are going into potentially the busiest summer in ten years without a Head of Recruitment.

Experience is key

Former Celtic scout John Park was rumoured to have agreed a deal to join English League One side Sunderland. The Daily Mail reported that Celtic had lost out in a bid to bring him back to club.

However, that was nearly three weeks ago and no official confirmation has been made. If Park’s deal to Sunderland is stalling then the club should be doing everything they can to get him back in.

The former scouting chief brought some of the most heralded players in recent years to Celtic. With such an important summer ahead it is crucial that we have the best men at the table making the decisions. Park is undoubtedly one of them.
