New signing Christopher Jullien could make his Celtic debut tomorrow against Rennes.
The former Toulouse defender will be back in familiar territory against the French cup winners.
Despite making the bench on Tuesday against Sarajevo, the towering Frenchman didn’t feature. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see what the £7 million man will bring to the club.
Neil Lennon discusses possible Christopher Jullien debut
It doesn’t come better than from the manager’s own mouth that Jullien will feature.
He wasn’t up to speed for the Champions League qualifier but could get a run out on Saturday.
Lennon told the Scottish Sun: “The friendly is important for the likes of Leigh and the boys who didn’t play a game, and Christopher Jullien will hopefully get some game time too.”
However, the likes of Mikey Johnston and other new signing Boli Bolingoli will not feature due to injuries.
Jullien has played many times against Rennes in his lengthy career in Ligue 1.
They are perhaps the best team to bleed him into the green and white as he will be familiar with the type of play.
Despite Rennes’ two top attackers being at the Africa Cup of Nations, they will still pose a threat going forward.
Will Christopher Jullien make Sarajevo tie?
It’s perhaps too early to say whether the Frenchman will play a part next week.
The Bhoys are comfortably ahead after the away leg and may take a few risks.
The game is possibly a good way of bedding the likes of Jullien into the atmosphere of a packed Parkhead on a European night.
He doesn’t even need to start, but it would be a good opportunity for him to be familiarised by it.
Sarajevo won’t pose the Hoops many problems defensively, which could also boost confidence.
Nevertheless, fans will hopefully get a first glimpse of their new defender tomorrow in the friendly.
