Celtic have been at the forefront of some remarkable achievements on the pitch as the club continues to be the standard bearer in Scottish football.

From winning a Quadruple Treble, a second nine in a row, a record-breaking eighth domestic treble and an Invincible Treble, Celtic have been at the forefront of all the headlines for their on-field achievements.

However, it seems that what the club are doing off the pitch in the local community is set to be recognised after Celtic were nominated for a prestigious award this afternoon.

European Club Association recognise Celtic

The European Club Association is a body recognised by UEFA and FIFA and is responsible for looking after the interests of all of its 700 members in all international and decision-making in the game.

The ECA also recognised those clubs for not only their achievements on the pitch but also off it. And this year Celtic, alongside Sweden’s AIK and Italy’s Udinese have been nominated for the body’s Social Impact Award.

According to the ECA website, the award is for, ‘The Best Community & Social Responsibility Programme Award is awarded to a member club with a club-driven CSR project, which can serve as best practice for all ECA Member Clubs.’

Celtic last won the award back in back in 2011 for their ‘Ability Counts’ initiative which is run by the Celtic Foundation and the initiative is being recognised again 13 years later.

The club also won an award in 2014 from the ECA for their work in developing and producing a matchday app called “CelticLIVE” in which 67 Hail Hail‘s very own John McGinley was heavily involved in.

Celtic will discover if they win the award when the ceremony takes place at the General Assembly meeting in Athens on the 8th-10th of October.
