Celtic SLO John Paul Taylor is hopeful that the club will get a sizable away allocation for the upcoming Europa League match against Lazio.

Neil Lennon takes his side to the Italian capital of Rome on November 7th for matchday four of Group E. The away trip is expected to be the most popular for Hoops fans by far, given the location and time of the year.

And they shouldn’t have too much hassle getting tickets. We recently told you how Lazio average under 20,000 fans in the 70,000 Stadio Olimpico in the competition.

That should mean that any Celtic fan who wants a ticket gets one, but it may not be as easy as that. Celtic SLO Taylor revealed on Wednesday morning that the Hoops wouldn’t get the ideal allocation of 10,000 tickets but he did say that the final total shouldn’t be too far away.

Lazio vs Celtic clash could be pretty important

In Scotland, the majority of smaller teams would probably throw open their stadium for Celtic fans due to the potential of a cash boost. However, Lazio don’t have the same need for money and will instead have weighed-up the possibility of Celtic getting a boost in the match.

The matchday four clash is shaping up as a bit of a biggie given the opening matchday’s results.

The ideal scenario is that we go over to Italy with 7 points in the bag. That would effectively give us a free shot at the Serie A side, knowing that we would be in a good place to qualify whatever the result.

We can achieve that scenario by winning our next two matches – both of which are at home. Cluj are beatable next week but it will be far from easy. Lazio will then be a real test but they’ve already shown their frailties by losing in Romania.

It’s shaping up to be a terrific group campaign. Hopefully as many Celtic fans can now see as many of the matches as possible.
