Celtic playing legend Frank McGarvey will be on the Celtic Park pitch tomorrow to say thanks to all of the supporters who have backed him over the years, especially during the last few weeks.
McGarvey’s family unfortunately recently announced that he had received a cancer diagnosis, with the good wishes of thousands pouring in.
Now, the Celtic Park crowd will get to cheer him on once more at some point during tomorrow’s matchday against Hibernian.

Celtic said in a social media post this evening: “Frank McGarvey will be on the Paradise pitch tomorrow to say thanks to his fellow Celtic fans for all their support over the years, & particularly over the past few weeks. Frank played 245 times for Celtic & is one of only 29 players to have scored over 100 goals for the club.”
No doubt it will be an emotional moment for all concerned, and it’s fantastic that Frank will feel with the warmth of fans.
McGarvey played for Celtic for five years, also making a name for himself in two separate spells at St Mirren. He won five trophies with the Bhoys and also represented Scotland on the international scene.
In Paisley, he was part of the iconic side that won the 1987 Scottish Cup, also helping them to a promotion as a dynamic young attacker in Alex Ferguson’s famous team.
At one point, he was the hottest property in Scottish football and certainly made his mark for Celtic.
As Celtic stated, he’s in the hallowed 100+ goals club, a landmark that is becoming increasingly rare to see from players who feature for the Bhoys.
Let’s make sure he gets the ovation he deserves tomorrow afternoon.
