In what was an excellent showing for Celtic, they dismantled Motherwell 4-0 at Parkhead this afternoon.
Brendan Rodgers would have been chuffed with what he saw from his squad in front of their home support as they ran out comfortable victors in Glasgow.
From the outset it was clear there would be little to no ‘Well resistance as the hosts hassled and pressed forward with the lion’s share of the ball and the chances.

But it took until just before half-time for them to finally open the scoring despite Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah missing half-chances.
Yang stole in ahead of goalkeeper Aston Oxborough to win a penalty which was converted by Arne Engels and it was plain sailing from there.
Maeda headed in the second before subs Nicolas Kuhn and Reo Hatate put the gloss on the final score.
It was certainly a Merry Christmas for the Bhoys on the pitch and the punters in the stands.

Celtic player ratings vs Motherwell
Kasper Schmeichel – 5

We’ve given him a rating of five because that’s what he’d have started the game on… and he didn’t have a save to make throughout.
Anthony Ralston – 7
Got forward often down the right in Alistair Johnston’s stead and was always full-blooded in everything. Crossing still a bit of an issue and left some to be desired, but he did well.
Cameron Carter-Vickers – 6
Wasn’t troubled at the back as Celtic completely dominated from start to finish. One hairy moment when there was a “handball” claim but it was much ado about nothing.
Liam Scales – 6
Had little to do in dealing with Tony Watt or his partner Tawanda Maswanhise and his flick-on from a corner towards the front post found Daizen Maeda for the second goal.
Greg Taylor – 6
Put in a decent performance with some of his crosses relatively dangerous and he showed flashes of importance in his relationship with Daizen on the left. Subbed.
Callum McGregor – 7
Good technical display from the captain as he won plenty of the ball back when ‘Well did have it and his range of passing allowed the danger men to get forward. Unlucky with a raking effort which was blocked inside the area.
Paulo Bernardo – 6
Some deliveries were decent into the box from the midfielder but it was a quiet afternoon, it must be said, for the Portuguese. Subbed for Reo Hatate.
Arne Engels – 6
Put himself about for the team and always looked to link and create. Showed his clinical side with the penalty before he was replaced by Luke McCowan.
Daizen Maeda – 8
A constant threat on the left-flank with his running power but he picked the wrong pass at times and wasted some chances to cross. Still, he popped up with the second goal with a really clever, darting run into the six-yard box like a poacher.
Yang – 6
Found it quite difficult to create much down the flank but his clever movement without the ball was enough to win his side the first-half penalty. Brought off after the break.
Adam Idah – 5
Another afternoon where the big Irishman looked a little bit clumsy up top and he didn’t have many chances in front of goal. His hold-up play was okay at times but didn’t do enough. Subbed.
Nicolas Kuhn (sub) – 5
Was dangerous from the get-go off the bench and he scored a deflected effort to add to his growing stats.
Kyogo (sub) – 4
Unlucky not to net as goalie Oxborough kept him out from a deft touch in front of goal.
Reo Hatate (sub) – 5
Another sub who hit the back of the net with a terrific low effort.
Luke McCowan (sub) – 3
Settled into the action quickly and quietly went about his business.
Alex Valle (sub) – 3
Wasn’t asked to do much defending and it was just about keeping the pressure on in the forward areas.
