The group have been working hard at Lennoxtown ahead of tomorrow’s fixture at Celtic Park.
Three points are seen as a must for Neil Lennon’s Bhoys if we’re to have ambitions of progressing into the Round of 32.
Following positive performances against Lille and Aberdeen, there is also hope amongst supporters that the team will provide an entertaining display.
One of the promising parts of the Celtic training footage is the inclusion of winger Mikey Johnston, who has returned to the first-team group to continue his comeback from injury.
The academy talent hasn’t been selected for over ten months after going off injured against St Johnstone in late January but could be unleashed again when he fully rehabs.
Lennon has tempered expectation of an immediate return, stating in his press conference today: “Mikey Johnston has been training, but he’ll be a while yet.”
Having not featured throughout 2020, it’s understandable that the manager would want to take things slow, ensure there is no injury flare up and also build the winger’s match fitness.
Johnston, still just 21, has scored 11 goals and assisted eight more in 48 appearances for the Bhoys (Transfermarkt), showing exciting potential.
He has to find consistency and improve in some areas of his game, but the signs are promising he can emerge as a viable long-term option on the flanks.
Hopefully, it’s not too long before he is back in matchday squads.
