Celtic Predicted XI vs Dundee United: Frimpong and Ajer back in for Tannadice test
Celtic are back in Premiership action this weekend as we travel to face Dundee United.
By the time Neil Lennon’s men take to the field at Tannadice, it will be nearly two weeks since our last league outing.
The actions of one of our own players meant we were sidelined for two matches – missing the games against St. Mirren and Aberdeen.
However, early frontrunners Hibernian and Rangers have both dropped points in that time, giving the Celtic support a good boost going into this game.
Nevertheless, we could be nine points off the top by the time we take on Micky Mellon’s newly promoted outfit. So there’s a bit of pressure riding on this one.
Here’s the team we think Neil Lennon will field for the Saturday evening kick-off.
Elhamed and Bitton to make way
Vasilis Barkas will make his third Hoops appearance between the sticks while we think Jeremie Frimpong will be reinstated to the first-team with Hatem Abd Elhamed kept fresh for Ferencvaros on Wednesday night.
Likewise, we think Kristoffer Ajer will be back in alongside Christopher Jullien, with Greg Taylor our only viable option on the left of the defence.
The usual duo of Scott Brown and Callum McGregor should be holding in midfield with James Forrest, Ryan Christie and Mohamed Elyounoussi in front of them.
And up front will be Odsonne Edouard.
We would love to see Lennon try out a 3-5-2 formation in the coming weeks but he probably needs another defensive signing before that can become a reality.
This is going to be a tough game, but we’re backing the Bhoys to narrow the gap at the top.
Kick-off is at 5:30pm on Saturday evening, with the game live on Sky Sports.
Predicted XI: Barkas, Frimpong, Jullien, Ajer, Taylor, Brown, McGregor, Forrest, Christie, Elyounoussi, Edouard
