Celtic prospect Kerr McInroy was on top form for Dunfermline Athletic last night as they picked up a statement win against Hearts in the Scottish Championship.

Many are expecting Robbie Neilson’s side to win automatic promotion back to the top-flight after their relegation, but it’s the Pars who are forging a path at the top of the table right now.

Their 2-1 win against the Jam Tarts puts them on 13 points, leading the rest of the division.

McInroy has made six appearances since their season started in October, becoming an integral part of the midfield.

He was particularly impressive at home to the Tynecastle outfit, showing up high profile players such as former Ibrox man Andy Halliday in the process.

Winning plaudits from reporters and supporters, McInroy will have taken tremendous confidence from the encounter, setting him up very nicely for the rest of the campaign.

The 20-year-old has yet to make his competitive debut for the Bhoys but did appear on the bench as an unused substitute twice this season against Dundee United and Motherwell.

He also managed to get some minutes in pre-season friendlies.

A loan and regular week-to-week action could be the making of him, especially if the Pars manage to sustain a genuine promotion push.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on his progress as the weeks go by.
