Celtic have published a photo of the embrace between an emotional Artur Boruc and Bhoys goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods after tonight’s game in Warsaw.
Celtic played out a 2-2 draw with Legia but the night was really all about the goodbye to Boruc, who had stellar careers at both clubs.
After the match, the Polish legend sang with supporters over the stadium microphone before taking the plaudits of all the players and coaching staff on the pitch. Celtic uploaded a photo of the embrace with Woods on the official club Twitter account.
Woods arrived at Celtic during the Gordon Strachan reign, two years into Boruc’s spell at the club. The duo will have built up a close relationship in that time.
The long-serving coach helped Boruc re-find some of his best form and the goalkeeper clearly still values that time together.
Many goalkeepers over the years have credited Woods for being a significant help in their careers including Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon.
Boruc is now planning to enjoy his retirement while becoming an ambassador of Legia, while he considers any next steps he makes in his working life.
He’s earned the time to relax and enjoy putting his feet up for a while given his long, successful career.
Every Celtic supporter wishes him all the best!
