Out of contact Rennes attacker Hatem Ben Arfa should move to Celtic to match his ambition.
The former PSG man thinks his current club is unambitious and will be moving at the end of the season, speaking to Get French Football.
The Hoops would love someone of his quality on a free and he is within their grasp.
If the likes of Tom Rogic move on in the summer, The Bhoys will need to match that quality to replace him.
Celtic can match Hatem Ben Arfa’s claim
The current Rennes man is sitting 13th in Ligue 1 but has won the Coupe de France this season.
This guarantees them Europe next season and the club’s first trophy in 48 years.
Perhaps they can be let off for a poorer league performance having also got to the last 16 of the Europa League this campaign too.
However, this isn’t enough for Ben Arfa who has higher desires.
Get French Football news reports him saying: “When your own fans are booing you, that can have an impact on your decision-making.
“We are not ambitious enough, too timid, there is a reason why we are 13th in the table.”
It looks like the former French international has desires on playing elsewhere.
However, he likes to burn bridges with former clubs as has gone on to do in the past.
Hatem Ben Arfa won’t warm bench
If a move was ever to come to fruition, he would need to be a guaranteed starter.
It would only likely happen if Rogic was to leave the club for the likes of Leicester City.
Then we would need someone who could slot straight into the first team as an amicable replacement.
He has nine goals and assists in 26 matches in Ligue 1 this season.
The Hoops have high ambition as they want to return to the Champions League and seal 10-in-a-row.
Unfortunately, the way things are going, the performances are on a downturn and in need of a spark.
Ben Arfa will bring that flair back to the team and is classy enough to help win trophies.
