Celtic ready to strengthen their hand with important behind-the-scenes appointment

Celtic has been lauded over the years for its business acumen, player trading model and financial results as the club continues to dominate Scottish football.

Peter Lawwell recently announced at Celtic record revenues of £124.6m as the Parkhead club not only flourishes on the park but also off it.

However, the recent departure of Mark Lawwell and at Celtic and Joe Dudgeon led the club to appoint Mark Cooper to the Bhoys’ recruitment department.

But that still leaves Celtic short and it seems that they are set to remedy that soon with a key behind-the-scenes appointment.

Celtic set to hire Paul Tisdale for senior role at the club

Celtic are set to bolster their recruitment and football operations with the recruitment of former Exeter manager, Paul Tisdale.

The Daily Mail reports that if he is appointed, Tisdale will oversee the roles of recruitment, data and player and coach development at Celtic.

This seems like a very positive move by Celtic as they look to improve how the club improves its operations to keep their foot firmly on Scottish football.

With Darren O’Dea’s role as Player Pathway Manager looking to help improve the development of young academy players and progress them into the Celtic first team, the addition of Tisdale in this role can only help bolster that with his prospective role at the club.

Paul Tisdale’s record against former Celts in management

Being the boss of Exeter and various lower-league clubs, you would have thought Tisdale wouldn’t have had the opportunity to come against former Celtic players who found themselves in management, right?

Well, Tisdale has. As manager of MK Dons and Exeter, Tisdale faced Steven Pressley on two occasions when the former Celt was in charge of Carlisle (3-2 win) and Coventry (3-1 defeat).

Tisdale has also fronted up to Mark McGhee in games where Exeter beat the former Celtic man’s Barnet and suffered defeats to McGhee’s Bristol Rovers.

Paul Lambert (MK Dons and Norwich), Kenny Dalglish (Liverpool x 2), Paulo Di Canio (Swindon Town x 2), Roy Keane (Ipswich x 2) and even Harry Kewell have all come up against Tisdale in the managerial dugout.
