Celtic could regret reported decision not to bring Shved to club now

Celtic have reportedly turned down the chance to bring January signing Maryan Shved to the club now, rather than in the summer.

Shved signed for the Hoops in January from Karpaty Lviv. As part of the deal, he returned to his side on loan.

Move depended on cup exit

However, the Daily Record is reporting that the player could have arrived in Glasgow after Lviv were knocked out of their domestic cup.

This recently happened, but Celtic are allowing the player to end the season with Lviv before moving to Celtic Park.

More beneficial to make move now

This decision could turn out to be a mistake. Surely it would be more beneficial to the player and Celtic if he joined up with his new team-mates as soon as possible?

There could be a reason for the delay. The board at Celtic may not yet have decided on the manager for next season.

However, Celtic coach John Kennedy is still likely to be at the club next season. He could have worked with Shved to get him up to speed with his team-mates.

If Shved does not hit the ground running for the Bhoys next season, the decision not to bring him to Celtic Park now could well be looked upon as a mistake. Only time will tell.
