Celtic’s attempts to add to their squad have for the moment been denied. The Daily Mail is reporting that the Hoops have had a bid of £1.5 for Brentford’s Romaine Sawyers turned down by the Championship side.
The Hoops seem to have turned to Sawyers after previous target Rekeem Harper signed a new deal with West Brom.
Now the question has to be asked – will Celtic make another bid for the player? £1.5 million is a decent opening offer for the player.
Hoops determined to add midfielder

The Hoops seem determined to add another midfielder to their squad, despite the team already having plenty of midfielders.
Of course, Celtic will be playing many games this season, so a big squad is important to have.
Neil Lennon and the Celtic board will ultimately decide if they think the player is worth making another bid for, so only time will tell on the matter.

Very proactive summer
The reported bid is just another example of how proactive Celtic have been in the transfer window so far this summer. It is the opposite of last season, when the Hoops’ transfer business seemed to stall after the signing of Odsonne Edouard.
So far three signings have been made already, and that is a month before the domestic season starts. It will be interesting to see if Sawyers becomes Celtic’s fourth signing of the summer.
