Celtic have reportedly lost a member of staff at a critical time of the season. The Scottish Sun is reporting that Celtic analyst Jack Lyons has left the club to join Leicester City.

At Leicester City he will be reunited with former Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers. Lyons’ main role at the club was that of Celtic’s opposition scout.

The report goes on to claim that Rodgers brought Lyons into the club. Perhaps it is not surprising then that he has teamed up with the Hoops boss once more.

Losing staff at any point of the season is not good. It is particularly bad at this stage of the season. The start of the season is the most important for Celtic as it is when the Champions League qualifiers are navigated.

Any distraction would be most unwelcome, when all eyes should be on the Champions League and the start of the domestic season.

Hopefully the departure of Lyons did not cause any great upheaval at the club. Indeed, perhaps he has already been replaced in his role.

If he hasn’t he should be soon, as it is an important role for the club. It is important to know as much about your upcoming opponents as possible.

Neil Lennon and the Celtic board will hopefully have the position filled soon and the Hoops can get on with preparing for the new season.
