Celtic have reportedly made an offer for Paris FC striker Silas Wamangituka.
According to Italian source Calciomercato, the Hoops have put an offer in worth around £4.5million. That would signal quite the outlay if it were true, but there are real question marks to the bid too.
The report also states that Serie A side Fiorentina are also interested. Therefore, even if Celtic are in the running for him, it would seem they have some tough opposition for Wamangituka’s signature.

But a deal now would make no sense. Neil Lennon categorically stated that Celtic weren’t watching him when he went to see Paris take on Valenciennes last week. He did state that he was there on a scouting job, however.
Lennon also stated that the club could easily spend a huge figure on a striker. He’s identified it as a priority position, and Celtic would be highly likely to strengthen in that area should the Northern Irishman get the job.
But the fact is he hasn’t as of yet. £4.5m would be quite the outlay for a player who may not be liked by a new manager. Unless the board are seriously banking on giving Lennon the job, a bid now wouldn’t add up. Especially when you take into account we already have three strikers for any new manager to run the rule over.
Is this a deal worth doing?
If Lennon was going to get the job permanently regardless of what happens now, you would hope the board would just appoint him and get on with it.
The fact he hasn’t makes a story like this one difficult to believe. There are too many variables that could go wrong with this one.

Wamangituka only has nine goals this season for Paris too in Serie B. He’s hardly been a blistering sensation on that front. But perhaps it was the case that Lennon was impressed with what he saw during the match against Valenciennes, even if it finished 0-0.
What do you think about this one? If Celtic are looking at getting deals done, is it wise if Lennon isn’t going to be the manager next season? Or is it more essential the club don’t let promising talent get away regardless? Give us your thoughts in the comment section.
