Celtic fans and fans of other clubs in Scotland have rallied to offer support for Leigh Griffiths.
Brendan Rodgers revealed the striker is taking an extended break from football due to ‘ongoing issues.‘
Griffiths, who only recently returned from injury, will not be available for selection for the foreseeable future.
The Scottish internationalist has received well wishes and messages of support from fans of all clubs.
It’s not only Celtic fans who have rallied around their striker.
Fans of other clubs, notably Hearts and Rangers, have offered their support to the former Hibs man.
Mental health is an issue that is never off the table. Doesn’t matter who you are, what you do, where you come from – it can affect anyone at any time.
Hopefully Leigh Griffiths gets the support he needs and gets back to playing football when he’s ready for it. https://t.co/IfQqami3nF

Leigh Griffiths has a gambling issue. Has gone into rehab. Won’t mock. Won’t criticise. Hope he gets the help he needs. More to life than football.

Mental health is a massive issue that can affect anyone, as shown by today’s news.
Keep fighting Leigh, you’ll come back from this. 👊🏻🏴 pic.twitter.com/n8GB60I7eh

Wholeheartedly hope Leigh Griffiths is able to overcome the problems affecting him. Mental health issues, along with everything else that comes along with them that manifest themselves in physical problems as it were, are truly awful.

Shame to see Leigh Griffiths struggling. Tremendous player.
Fame and fortune are nothing without health and well-being.
Hope he’s back playing soon both for Celtic and Scotland.

Of course, the Celtic fans have also spread their message of support for Griffiths far and wide.
Good luck Leigh Griffiths. Get the help you need. Haste ye back, we love you dearly. #CelticFamily

And fans of Griffiths’ former club Hibs haven’t forgotten his contribution at Easter Road.
Leigh Griffiths doesn’t play for us. However, he will always be one of us. He’s currently going through a tough time with certain issues. Subsequently, he’s taking a break from football. All of us within your Hibs family extend our love and best wishes to you Leigh. 💚#GGTTH pic.twitter.com/kuZCCpm7Ke

Good luck & best wishes to one of our own Leigh Griffiths who is taking a (temporary) break from football to deal with some issues. We’re all behind you Sparky. Once a Hibee, always a Hibee. Will always be thought of as one of us 💚🙌🏽 pic.twitter.com/Kok95M879D

The news about Griffiths’ extended absence is another indication that money and fame doesn’t equal happiness.
However, hopefully Griffiths can find some comfort in the fact that he has the support of other clubs as well as Celtic.
It is an important and positive step that he has admitted he’s not 100% and is seeking the help he needs.
Return when he’s ready
It’s important that Griffiths does not rush back into action, irregardless if Celtic are struggling for options up front.
Both Celtic and more importantly Griffiths will be better off long term if he comes back when he’s ready.
The Celtic support never let one of their own down. They’ll be with Griffiths in his absence.
Don’t be surprised to hear a vocal show of support for him tonight.
