Celtic season ticket numbers could drop next year as Zebra Finance is pulling its support plug, the club have confirmed.
The firm, which has been allowing supporters to pay per month, is facing financial difficulties.
Now, fans who haven’t already signed up for the deal won’t get the chance to do so from now on.
Is this the biggest threat to season tickets?
Celtic must address season ticket issues through other means
Results on the park or who is in the dugout matter not a jot to some fans that want to renew their tickets.
However, they may face a lockout if The Hoops don’t sort out this shock ticket fiasco pronto.
Renewals have already began and some fans desperately rely on monthly payments to see their team.
The Bhoys aren’t the only ones hit with the disaster with Hibernian also being linked to Zebra Finance.
Celtic told fans: “Due to challenges faced by the club’s finance provider, Zebra Finance, supporters who have not yet renewed their season tickets are currently unable to apply for the finance options with Zebra Finance.”
The statement also told fans that they will be looking into other arrangement to help locked out supporters.
Future season ticket holders also in the dark with troubles
Another section of fans that are under threat with the fiasco is future season ticket holders.
There are fans on the waiting list begging to get a conformation letter who won’t get the chance to pay up their season ticket like other fans.
This is creating an unfair divide on the support and can harm next season’s numbers even further.
A major re-haul of the way tickets are distributed may be required or Celtic may have to create their own in house finance options.
After Brendan Rodgers’ exit, the numbers of renewals may be threatened so the club must do everything in their arsenal to halt that.
However, as the team will be going for nine-in-a-row, this problem may be easily solved.
