Celtic have rejected an opening offer of around £15million for Kieran Tierney, according to reports. The Scottish Sun say that Arsenal have bid the amount for the 22-year-old but it is deemed “nowhere near” the club’s valuation.

It is understood that Celtic are looking for a minimum of £25million to consider selling the left-back this summer.
Arsenal are expected to return again for Tierney and could throw in a number of fringe players to try and sweeten the deal. Napoli are also reported to be interested and have asked to be kept updated.

Hammer blow
Losing a player of Tierney’s quality would be a real kick in the teeth for the club. The full-back is probably our best player and, despite a stop-start season, he’d still be one of the first names on the team sheet.
The club have a big decision to make. Selling Tierney for big bucks makes financial sense but it could also send out the wrong message. We should be looking to strengthen this summer with nine and ten-in-a-row in mind. Selling one of our prized assets would be doing just the opposite.

Celtic will stand to make roughly £30million from qualification for the Champions League group stage. Selling Tierney for a similar amount would upset the team and make that achievement much harder.
The club will need to weight up the whole impact of losing one of our key players, and not just the financial bit.
