Celtic will receive only around 750 tickets for next month’s Europa League clash against Cluj, it has emerged.

Celtic SLO John Paul Taylor made the announcement to an inquisitive supporter following the club’s releasing of ticket details for the fixture on December 12th.

Fans hoping to be in the Celtic end for the final Group E fixture must have been to 12 of the club’s last 20 European away matches. That led the supporter to ponder whether that stringent criteria would be reduced to give more fans a chance.

Many Celtic fans may choose to buy tickets directly from Cluj

Cluj’s ground – Dr. Constantin Radulescu – holds just over 23,000. However, it has been far from full in their Europa League campaign. Their opening matchday win over Lazio attracted just 9,222 (WorldFootball.net) – meaning that the stadium was less than half full.

That may give Hoops supporters a good chance of getting tickets for the home end. One fan certainly had that idea but was quickly shot down by Taylor who insisted that the club couldn’t officially encourage that.

Nevertheless, there are likely to be many Celtic fans occupying both ends in Romania next month. Cluj are selling tickets for the match online with fans able to print tickets at home. That may appeal to many Celtic fans planning on making the trip without away end briefs.

The match itself could end up being a dead rubber. If we take care of Rennes on matchday five and Cluj fall to defeat against Lazio – we will be assured of top spot going into our final match.

Otherwise it is likely to be a straight shootout for who tops the group – and has the benefit of an easier tie in the last 32.
