Celtic will this evening discover their Scottish Cup opponents as they prepare to enter the competition at the 4th round stage.

The Hoops have enjoyed great success in this domestic competition, having lifted the trophy a record 40 times, with the first coming all the way back in 1892.

Celtic last won the Scottish Cup back in the 2019/20 season, defeating Hearts on penalties at Hampden as former boss Neil Lennon lifted his final trophy at Parkhead.

However, after a run of winning the competition four years in a row, the Bhoys have since missed out on reaching the final in the past two years.

Having lifted the Scottish Premiership and Premier Sports Cup trophy last campaign, the Scottish Cup is the only competition that Ange Postecoglou needs to win to have delivered all three domestic trophies to Parkhead as manager.

Earlier this year, the 57-year-old reached the semi-finals of the competition. But his side, unfortunately, suffered defeat in extra-time to Glasgow rivals Rangers.

So the former Socceroos boss will be keen to see his team dominate Scottish Football by lifting silverware in the showpiece game of the season.

First off, the Hoops journey, which will hopefully end at Hampden in June, starts in the Fourth Round, with the draw being made later on this evening.

Clubs from the lower leagues in Scotland have been battling it out for a chance to face the Premiership sides, with the third round concluding later on this evening.

Where and when to watch Celtic discover their fourth-round fate?

Lowland League and West of Scotland league sides, including Darvel and the University of Stirling, are in with a chance of facing up against Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Whilst familiar foes from previous years, such as Partick Thistle and Falkirk, were able to reach the next round with ease as top-flight teams enter.

The fourth-round draw will take place later on this evening, following the conclusion of the final tie of the round at Somerset Park, which kicks off at 7:45 PM.

Ayr United take on Pollok, with the last place in the next round up for grabs, as the away side looks to create another shock upset in the competition.

Celtic supporters looking to tune into the draw can watch it on the BBC Scotland channel or on BBC Iplayer after the match comes to an end in Ayr.

It is always exciting to see who the Hoops might face in the Scottish Cup and whether it is a home or away trip.

With the fourth-round ties taking place on the weekend of the 21st of January, Ange Postecoglou’s side will have plenty of time to prepare before they enter the Scottish Cup.
