According to Hull Live, Hull City winger Kamil Grosicki looks set to join West Bromwich Albion, and it comes only 24 hours after being linked with a move to Celtic.

The Poland international, who has 73 caps for his country (Transfermarkt), has reportedly had a bid accepted for his services from the Championship leaders. Hull Live claim that Grosicki is now in advanced talks after rejecting a new deal with City.

Hull Live states that the Tigers aren’t willing to let Grosicki leave in the summer for nothing. Therefore, getting him out the door before tomorrow night is their only alternative.

Celtic were yesterday linked with a move for Grosicki by the Daily Mail (29/01, print edition, back page). It stated that Neil Lennon was still on the lookout for attacking reinforcements and that the winger was interesting Lennon.

But time moves fast in football. Celtic haven’t landed a reported offer since and now look set to miss out on him. When asked by BT Sport last night during their coverage of St Johnstone vs Celtic whether we would sign anyone before the deadline, Lennon said: “I don’t know” (BT Sport 1, 29/01, 21:45).

Grosicki fits the bill that Lennon wanted

Earlier on in the window, Lennon stated that he was still after a winger. He also said that he wanted one in that had both quality and experience (Sky Sports). You can’t say Grosicki doesn’t have those traits.

He’s played 30 times for Hull this season and has managed eight goals from a wide position. He also has a further four assists and has started every single one of their league games in the campaign. (Transfermarkt).

Grosicki also certainly has experience. He’s played for seven different clubs in five different countries. Combine that with playing at a World Cup and European Championships and you’ve certainly got a player there.

As we reach the closing stages of the window, we’ve yet to have brought in another experienced winger who’s played at a high level. The closer we get to February 1st, the less likely it’s looking that we sign one.

Last night showed just how much we need a right-winger with not a single replacement on the bench for James Forrest. Granted, Grosicki may primarily be a left-winger, but he can also play on the right. Not many would bat an eyelid if he did.

However, it, unfortunately, looks as though we’re going to miss out on this one unless we make a dramatic last-minute bid. Given the silence around it at the moment, it doesn’t look likely.
